So far, I’m making good progress with book updates. Four of them, as of last week, and I hope to complete another one this week.
My favorites so far include Haunted or Not?, which is a radically revised edition of my former “Is Your House Haunted?”
This time, I lead with the reasons that 80% of “haunted” houses probably aren’t haunted, after all. (I’m sorry if that spoils readers’ fun, but with so many ghost hunting TV shows looking like parodies of serious research, it seemed imperative to speak up.)
And then, if the house still seems haunted after thoroughly trying to debunk its ghost-like phenomena, I describe folk remedies that have seemed successful at clients’ homes.
I’ve edited and updated my other favorite - and long-time classic - Ghost Hunting in Haunted Cemeteries - A How-To Guide, to include more complete information, plus tips for team investigations, and… Well, everything you might need to know for this kind of research.
For those who want “just the facts, ma’am,” there is a shorter version of that book. It’s missing many useful tips, but for someone who just wants to find a haunted cemetery and see if they like that kind of research… Well, it’s a good, quick way to start.
And finally (and long overdue), I’ve edited, updated, and corrected an embarrassing number of typos in 101 Ghost Hunting Questions, Answered.
The original version of that book had been too-hastily copied directly from my Ghosts 101 (dot com) website, when I realized that Google had de-indexed most of that site’s pages.
So here’s what may be the final edition, with updated insights and (I hope) no (or few) typos.
All of these books are available as ebooks via Amazon, B&N, Kobo, and so on.
Also, paperback editions are available at Amazon and some bookstores; later in 2024 (or early 2025), there will be hardcover editions.
Next, I’m working on a book based on the ghost hunting course that was once at Hallowfields (dot com). Those lessons are getting the same scrutiny as my other newly revised books.
However, I’ll admit that a certain haunted city is singing a siren song, so I may complete its history and analysis, first, and publish it as a short book.
Of course, I’d like to complete all of these books and revisions before Halloween. So, if I’m quiet in the interim, it’s because I need full focus to make these books as complete and information-packed as possible.
(And then there’s that extra project: Updating the links at the original Mandela Effect website, after moving it to WordPress.com. I’m aware that the site may still crash regularly, and I’m not approving new comments, but at least the site is online again. Actually showing people the roots of the topic, and what our fun and speculative conversations were really like… That’s important to me.)
So, that’s my news for now. I hope you’re having a wonderful autumn, and enjoying this lovely time of year!
